Ovidian Doctorates: scientific dialogue, networking, and perspective for young researchers

Ovidius University in Constanța hosted the annual conference of Ovidius doctoral students – Doctorialele Ovidiene, an event that has become a landmark for the academic community. The current edition brought together doctoral students from multiple fields—life sciences, humanities and social sciences, engineering, arts, and sports—who presented their recent results, innovative methodologies, and ongoing research directions to the public.

In keeping with the established format, each oral presentation lasted a maximum of 20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session designed to stimulate debate, methodological clarification, and the transfer of best practices. Coordinator Elena Dantes accompanied the doctoral students in her role as moderator, facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue and contributing to the cohesion of the papers through timely interventions focused on academic rigor and impact. At the same time, the "Ad Augusta" project was presented, an initiative dedicated to supporting young researchers through mentoring, thematic workshops, and tools for developing scientific writing and communication skills.

The event benefited from the the presence of doctoral supervisors and guests from academia, who ensured the consistency of the debates and offered complementary perspectives – from ethics and integrity in research to experimental planning, international visibility, and interdisciplinary collaborations. To improve the quality of the presentations, the doctoral student observers used evaluation grids, and each participant will receive structured, written feedback, along with a certificate of participation.

The Ovidian Doctorates confirmed their role as a networking platform: new project ideas, research partnerships, and plans to publish in specialized journals took shape. The organizers emphasize that the meeting supports the university's dual objective: consolidating an active scientific community at national and international level and developing the communication skills of doctoral students, which are indispensable for their academic careers and for transferring results to society.

The next steps involve organizing thematic workshops entitled "Ad Augusta," publishing advisory sessions, and Q&A meetings on methodology, AI usage, statistics, and ethics, open to all interested doctoral students.
